The Basic Engineering is the most critical phase in the development of a project where key decisions are made. Technical choices have a significant impact on the project costs and schedule. The Opportunities for optimizing the project solutions with high constructability criteria are greater in this phase
During this phase, the functional characteristics of all the primary, secondary and engineering systems in the project are defined, as well as all the components that form part of these systems.
The FEED phase consists in the definition of all systems (Primary, Secondary and Engineered), components (itemised and bulk materials) and of their position in the plant. This enables to check and confirm the validity of the choices made during the Basic Engineering phase and their consistence with project objectives and constructability requirements. The engineering for the Requisition of package systems and complex supplies (LLI and critical items) is well developed in this phase.
In the Detailed Engineering phase, equipment and bulk materials are engineered with the necessary detail for procurement. The activities are carried out in order to assure the adequacy of the supplies, the availability of the engineering documents for procurement/construction and the necessary engineering for changes and integrations during construction.
It includes the field engineering activities and assistance to enable possible modifications (or) integrations that result necessary during the construction at Site and to assure that what constructed and installed complies with the requirements.
This includes AS BUILT from construction marked-up documents.
